Amanda & Lauren bring you Somatic Dance at The Octagon, Taradale Anglican Church, 23 Puketapu Rd *Last Friday of every month 7-8pm* Amanda & Lauren are trained Somatic Dance Facilitators by Sarsha Hope. Our intention is to create a space where we can let go of the busyness of life, get out of our minds and drop into our bodies. Somatic dance is a free-form dance expression with no choreographed moves or prescribed ways to move. It's all about allowing your body to move in the way it naturally wants and needs to. There are no set criteria or steps. Each dance will have an embodied focus and will have invitational cues and prompts along the way to facilitate the journey. *Please note, this differs from things like Ecstatic Dance, which is non-guided. Each dance session features an intentionally curated playlist/soundscape designed to help you connect deeply with your body, which may evoke feelings and emotions - all of you is welcome. The playlist progresses through multiple rhythms, starting gently, building to a peak, and then easing back down to stillness and integration. This musical wave activates a release in the body that, if followed, can bring tremendous healing, relief, balance, and wellness. It offers you the opportunity to move authentically, in a way that feels true to your needs.
